Tonali in "discussions" over 10 month ban

I totally agree. It is the new normal. He knew what he was doing and should be banned for life.
Exactly, you would never know as a supporter, team - mate or manager if any goal or incident involving Tonali is above board.
He has lost his integrity as a footballer.

What did he say?
Just that we are too righteous and addictions should be treated as an illness and the last thing Tonali needs is a ban if he’s trying to give up betting. Lasted about 15 minutes.

Then, when asked if he thought Tonali had an addiction, he said he didn’t know. 😂

There is no big fish as he is the one they caught by checking others phones.

People are re writing this to look like is the hero that he has come forward to help out err no he was caught in a sting.

Hence why his ban is more

So he’s banned now but can still play tonight

Erm how does that work then.

As there’s no appeal no further hearing.

HE IS guilty and HE will be banned so what’s the wait

Thought exactly the same with Toney. He had been found guilty and was still playing every week. It's an absolute joke and indicative of the complete lack of governance at the top level of the game.

Interesting that he's getting a bigger punishment than Toney, for what I see as less severe offences, and Toney actively disrupted the investigation.

I'm guessing that's because of the Italians being harsher on such things with their history.
I think Toney was harsh from what ive seen but then again they know the rules so they shouldnt gamble! I do think its over the top that footballers cant bet as long as its a game they arent involved in or have any inside information. I rate Toney very highly but talk about a bad apple! If even Brentford are willing to get rid it says a lot, albeit I seen today they are happy to take a 'lower' price of £65m - Football is ruined!

Could Newcastle take Milan to court if they knew he was gonna be banned?

If I was Newcastle (which thankfully I am not) I would be demanding the release of information surrounding the investigation from the Italian authorities, when they first started investigating him, and Milan became aware of it, or Tonali himself became aware of it etc.

10 month ban, approx £200k a week wages (maybe?), around 8 million out of pocket. Ouch!

Buyer beware.

Why should Milan have to disclose information regarding any ongoing investigations?

I would presume shelling out 55 million by a potential buyer would be accompagnied by an application to the Italian FA for a report into any ongoing disciplinary action, if not already in the public domain?

I'd question the mugs right to suspend his wages to the tune of 11 million.

Yep, agree.

Tonali gets caught illegally betting. Says he has a gambling addiction. Club has a duty of care, send him for some therapy with a cuddle. Continue to pay his wages.

See also Hugh Edwards, gets caught, says he now has mental health problems, quick cuddle, off to therapy with full wages.

Go as far back as Tony Adams. Crashed car whilst drunk. Admits he has a drink problem, off to therapy.

List goes on.

Even at my level of work. Get caught with a drug test, say you have an addiction, can't get sacked but sent for therapy.

Too many people play the system.

I'd have more sympathy if these came out before getting caught and ask for help.
