Tonali and Zaniolo both released by Italy

How do you distinguish between just betting and an addiction? Fagioli spent over €1 million on betting, that's pretty serious.

I'm not saying players should be treated any different if they're just gambling or have an addiction, I'm saying its not funny, and gambling within sport needs to be looked into, that starts with education from clubs and agents.

I wasn't saying that it was funny that somebody has been banned for gambling.

I was pointing out the absurdity of a team paying £55m to sign a player whilst not being informed that the player in question is currently under investigation for an illegal act that would see him banned from global football for a substantial period.

Newcastle have claimed to have been totally unaware of the situation.

I think gambling is a social problem initself and contributes to the ever widening gap between the poor and the wealthy.

In terms of footballers the rules are clear, but punishments will vary dependent upon the proximity to games that they potentially could influence.

I'm a little sceptical around claims of addiction for everyone caught it seems too.
 
This all ties in with how Newcastle signed Tonali in the first place in my opinion.

By all accounts, Tonali is a huge Milan fan and never wanted to play for anyone else. Obviously Tonali and Milan knew this was going to come out soon and Milan cashed in and Tonali chased the big money at Newcastle before all this came out.

Newcastle have been absolutely done here. I’d sack Tonali.
