Which is the best venue ??
Was fancying saltburn for the view etc ... but also fancy potto .. any recommendations appreciated

We went to Acklam Hall during the last restaurant week and it was 3 courses for £20... absolutely outstanding value.. My sons birthday meal which was his choice... lucky enough to visit a few times and each time has been exceptional.. they stuck candles in his desert.. driving home full of food was a challenge!

Been to most of them. Love Saltburn for the view over all

Food and service is good. Never had a bad experience

If you’re going to Saltburn for a steak then go to Brockley Hall.. far better than Tomahawk.

The Saltburn one looks nice, but we've never had a meal from it that didn't have something wrong with it, always something missing or overcooked, and you're paying through the nose for it to begin with.

I'd definitely say Potto.

First time we went was beautiful.

The second time was just okay, but it was during Eat Out to Help Out, so I expect they dropped standards to keep up with demand.

Don't they all buy their steak from the same provider?

If you're going for a fillet go to Sorriso in Stockton. Same provider, much better value.

Potto for me. I live a 5-10 minute walk from Acklam Hall and never go in there now. I preferred it when it was the old restaurant before it was bought out.

Went in a few times and thought it wasn’t as good.

Last time I went to Potto it was for Sunday lunch. It was superb.

Maybe? I'd imagine a lot of restaurants get their stuff from similar suppliers. Not sure about the joys of picturesque Stockton high street vs Potto and the like mind

Meat supplier is one small part of a dining experience that most would be oblivious to as long as it's good quality. The menus are very different and whilst Sorriso is slightly cheaper, their menu seems to be variations of just 3 cuts with pre-specified sides, whereas with Tomahawk you select what sides you want with more choice of cuts, mixes and additional side options above the included ones. Unless you are getting a massive Tomahawk, the price difference doesn't seem that huge when you factor in the sides.

I'd say Potto, Saltburn, Acklam Hall then Yarm. I tend to order something other than steak if we go. Also hate their peppercorn sauce.

Potto 100%

Been to all round here...
Saltburn nice view but just ok
Yarm average
AH poor service and food sent back as cold, cloudy wine, had to ask for drinks everytime
