Timothy Spafford - Middlesbrough supporters club south 1980s and 90s

Very sorry to hear this bad news. Your uncle helped make us all feel so welcome at the many superbly organised events and meets up through this period.

RIP

That is really sad Bobby. commiserations to you and all his family. I do recall him as a lovely man and was wondering only a few months ago what had happen to him. Lived not far from me in Harrow? Do please add to the MSS FB site as many people on there would have known him.

I met him a few times in the 1987 and 1988. I think he worked at a secondary school as a teacher and all his pupils knew he was a Boro fan. Geoff Vickers ran the MSS then. They began to produce a really good magazine and the numbers were growing from around 50 members. I was only a member for about 16 months as I moved away from the South.

Think I remember him at one of the do's near King's Cross, when Robbo was still in charge and El Tel was about to come on board. Good events those. Got my photo taken with Robbo and Curtis. Time goes though unfortunately and we all get older. Condolences to your family.

I travelled to a lot of games with Tim in the 90s and saw him at a lot of MSS dos. He was a genuinely nice bloke. Sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry to hear this news, Bobby. I knew Tim, not very well, but I knew him. He was always around Boro away games in those times. Condolences to all his family and those who knew him.

There’s a nice piece on Tim from Geoff on the MSS Facebook website now.

Thanks everyone we’re overwhelmed by all the nice messages and the tribute and memories on Facebook I’ll pass this onto my mam and Tim’s wife Margaret 👍🏻
