Tiger Woods at the PGA in Tulsa

Tiger has pulled out of the PGA in Tulsa after the third round where he carded a 79, his worst ever score in a major tournament. I watched through my fingers as he had bogey after bogey and felt so sorry for a man who has done so much for the world of golf over the past 30 years or so. A truly great American golfer who attracted much unfortunate controversy which his predecessor fellow greats Tom Watson, Lee Trevino, Jack Nicholas, Arnold Palmer et al, did not. I hope he doesn't retire fully as he still has a huge following but that car accident 15 months ago seemed to be the catalyst for his poor health and demise.

He had looked good in the opening 2 rounds.

Whilst you understandably point to the car accident as the “catalyst” for his demise think you can also point to other things as well which were self inflicted.

I think he had a good run at the top of a very competitive sport.

Car crash not accident

Doing 90 in a 45, and with no skidmarks on the road before the site of the crash indicate he was either unconscious, suffering from a medical episode or fell asleep and didn't wake up, he was fortunate that he didn't take out some innocent people at the same time.

For some reason the police didn't take blood to test for alcohol or drugs.
