Tier 4

So we have had to endure this for how long and now it impacts the south east we get a new criteria.
🤔

Make your minds up. London was put in tier 2 because it's London and now we are getting a new tier 4 because it's London. At least the chip shops are still open.
Why didn’t they just put London into tier 3 when they should have done? Come on Capy; they amazingly left it in tier 2 despite locking down most other big cities in England, and now this. They just look more and idiotic by the week.

Its a good idea to be fair. Its just stupidly executed. A few days after saying they won't change restrictions at Christmas.
Good idea? That’s like saying you should’ve had worn a coat when it was raining and it’s good as you came inside and put it on. It’s laughable people keep defending the indefensible; this decision should’ve been made weeks ago and this won’t be the end of it.,

It is easy for us all to be wise after the event, I include myself in this.
Johnson is always playing for popularity and cant make the hard tough decision. However he has a large and vocal "think of the economy" group, who rightly point out how much of the economy is centred in the South East. He should overide this and lock down early, get the "R" to well below 1 before even considering opening up.
This make take 2 or 3 months to achieve, but would coincide when the vaccine is becoming more prevalent for the at risk groups. I know a lot of businesses will go to the wall (mine included) but at least it would provide some sort of certainity.

Dunno. As I've said many times before, I can't see that the difference between tiers 2 and 3 will have a significant effect on the transmission of the virus. It's basically the difference between allowing single households to go to a pub or restaurant or not. And for most people it was a not anyway. And yes, they do look more idiotic by the week.

Its not like saying that at all. It is a good idea and it is too late. It can be both.

As an aside: watching BBC news is making my brain hurt. I often complain about the BBC dumbing things down but the anchor is being as thick as mince. I don't know if it is deliberate or she actually is stupid. Either way it's not good enough for a national broadcaster.

And football crowds/travel etc.

There’s a difference between the level of caution it creates, I’m pretty sure. So yes it may seem as simple as “pubs and restaurants” but when in tier 2 I think a lot more people are likely to think “oh it’s ok to do that”.

I’ve no idea why they tried to make London appear a special exception. It’s just common sense to say that all densely populated urban areas should be under the same restrictions. Regardless of the minimal differences in cases per 100,000 or whatever. There is no way a city like London should ever be operating under looser restrictions than other, much smaller cities.

You’d defend it if they said they wanted to shoot everyone over the age of 65. They can’t do anything wrong in any other job they’d have been sacked months ago.

It's easy to be wiser than our useless government before the event.

I don't know about that. From observations I'm not sure that people are being more cautious now we are in tier 3. And, for what it's worth, my own view is that we should, at all times, have been subject to more severe restrictions than we have been except, perhaps, during the summer before the schools went back. But that's with the benefit of hindsight.

Erm. Have you read any post I’ve made in the last year?
So here is my position tier 4 (lockdown essentially) for London and the south east IS a good idea. It is also far too late. Hope this makes it clear
