I went to Bolton last Saturday to see England v France and was surprised to see plenty of empty seats, and I mean plenty. Same at St James, 10k empty seats.

It's a shame the tickets are so rediculously priced. I like rugby league and wanted to take my son, but he would have no idea what's going on and, honestly, I don't fully understand all of the rules. All I know is that I find it far more entertaining than Rugby Union!
I hope there's a decent turn out for the game. But considering people's finances at the moment, I don't see it happening.

Most of the tickets are £25 full price. Concessions £15
This is for a World Cup game. Compare that to cricket internationals, athletics internationals, let alone football.
It's a world cup game for a niche sport. Average attendance for the super league is around 7-8000 and they're playing in 30000+ seater stadiums in areas that don't have much of a Rugby League presence. If the aim is to grow interest in Rugby League, especially during a financial crisis, then prices needed to be more realistic.
Look at the Women's Euros. My tickets to the final were cheaper than the cheapest tickets to a group game are! That's how you drive interest in a sport.
I like Rugby League. If it was £25 and £5 or £20 and £10, I'd be going. At £25 and £15, I'll take him to watch the Teesside Lions instead.

Supply and demand though. This probably isn’t even in the top 5 most supported sports in this country so charging high prices will just leave empty stadiums in their biggest event which looks so bad for the sport. I would have thought it would be the best time to attract new fans and almost give the tickets away, it would definitely benefit attendances long term.
Either that or use smaller stadiums
I don't disagree ticket prices above £25/£15 are too high - but when I bought my ticket on Wednesday night there was still lots of availability of £25/ £15 concession tickets - let's sell those areas out behind either goal.
