Thought we might've broken our hoodoo on Saturday

At West Brom. Just had a feeling even before the game we were going to win 3-2 after going 2-0 down first... Obviously it wasn't to be (even though we went 2-0 down ok!!)!

I believe the last time we went 2 or more goals down (2-0, 3-0, 3-1 etc) in a league match to comeback and win was, quite ridiculously, the 10th of October 1970 Vs Portsmouth (H)!!!

That was the last in a run of 4 remarkable games in which we came back in such a fashion in 3 of them (the other 2 wins were QPR (H) 6-2 & Cardiff (A) 4-3) - the other game of the 4 we lost 3-2 away to Leicester.

So over the years, I've seen us on the wrong end of similar comebacks on more than 1 occasion, but (Steaua in the cup aside) I've still never seen us win a league game from 2 goals behind (and I'm 40)... Madness!

I was at the QPR and Portsmouth games. At half time I got a pass out (you could do that back then) and went to the shop on the corner of Warwick Street outside the main entrance. The woman behind the counter asked what was going on due to the noise, we were 4-2 up after being two down in the first five or so minutes. It became known as the McIlmoyle match, despite Hickton scoring a hattrick.

Trying to think of comebacks I've seen. Came back from 2 down to draw at Southampton (downing X2) and Millwall to draw under pulis.
There was also that mental game at Fulham under karanka. Can't remember if we were two or three goals behind. Pushing to get the win when they scored from a corner and we lost.

Have seen us win a few times at West Brom. Think he means the coming from 2 goals down to win hoodoo.

Boro v Portsmouth 10th Oct 1970; that was the game where I lost my Boro virginity. You never forget your first time.

John Hickton's debut (and first penalty) vs Workington 3-2. 1966. Remember it well. Last week not so much.

The QPR game I opted for a weekend away with the Scouts. The Doug Sanders quote applies when asked if he ever got over it.
