Thought it would be good to know....

School teams, then lot of 5 & 6 a side kick abouts with work. Left back, left side midfielder.

Unfortunately one of those bodies where I picked up different injuries pretty regularly. Both ankles knacked, sprained them that many times, so huge risk of arthritis as I get even older. Chronic back problem which I've had for the past 13 years. Have had to face up to never turning pro which was difficult 😥😥

Looking to make a comeback - 5 a side - at the age of 51.......physio warned against it but always liked playing whatever. See how that goes ..... 😬😬

I played for a few teams in the NE in my teens. I managed to get a few trials, including Boro but I knew I was neither good enough nor motivated enough. Even so, I was taken aback by Jack Charlton, he wasn't a nice bloke.

I played at university, and won the British Uni championships. We beat Liverpool - including Steve Coppell - in the final.

I didn't play after I graduated. Rugby was more fun and the camaraderie was much better. I played that until I was still carrying injuries from one weekend to the next. I've never missed playing football and I pretty much hate the circus it's become now.

But I have been lucky to see some of the best players at the top of their careers, and that's more satisfying than anything I did.

Interesting about big jack

None of note except I played in goal for my house at 5 a side. and kept the school 11 a side keeper out.
Did well as a manager, started out with a group of mates from my local pub. and went through from the Teesborough league div 4 to div 1 and lost out in the final of the North Yorkshire Cup at Yorks ground.
Great days untill I realised that most of the mates I had set off with had gradually been replaced by better players. So we got someone else in who had more experience of local leagues and tactics and I went back to the pub.
To be honest I picked the team , made the subs, fined them for mucky boots and shouted "come on " a lot so they needed someone else.
