This is football

it's good to hear a pundit be honest. I'd like to see them be more honest about the way the game is played, particularly around diving/cheating but it's a good start.

I do struggle to understand the German mindset that the current situation is better and Leipzig are the bad guys. Any system which allows Bayern to cannibalise the rest of the league seems weird to be supported. And I don't get the hatred for Red Bull when other German teams like Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg are owned by Bayer AG & Volkswagen without the same disdain. The existing rules seemed designed to prevent any newcomers displacing the old guard and all of the teams are happy with the current situation even if it means Bayern winning every year and hoovering up any of the talent in the other teams. At lest Leipzig have done it the right way. They haven't spent billions. They have a young manager and they buy young players. They haven't done what PSG have done and spent half a billion on Neyman and Mbappe.

I think you have to go quite far down the football pyramid to find a team that isn't owned by someone or a company that isn't shady. The good guys don't really make it to the top. I suppose teams in Spain are owned by the fans but there are always stories of dodgy goings on concerning the Royals ties to Madrid and the free training facilities and tax dealings etc. Barcelona had Qatar as a sponsor so they are certainly not squeaky clean.

Incredibly refreshing analysis, I wish we had similar this side of the Irish Sea.

For the first time in a long time I've been watching BT Sport's coverage of the European mini-competitions. The "quality" of commentary and analysis is quite frankly staggering. Most pundits can barely put the words in the correct order of each sentence they utter and their analysis is littered with long pauses....trying to think of an accurate word....before usually failing and inserting an alternate word which completely subverts the meaning of what they are trying to say.

Is it too much to ask that those analysing events are at least semi-literate, intelligent human beings?

Potential over-reaction on my part but it's one of those little things which really annoys me.
