This Escaped Prisoner

Am I missing something, there seems to be a fullscale manhunt with ports and airport disruption for someone who wasn't considered CAT A and hasn't been charged with a top level terrorism charge?

Sounds like a film plot. Captured for espionage, about to be prosecuted and escaped. Enemy government supporting him to evade capture and exit the country.

They've shut a stretch of the m20. Took me 2.30 hours to get 30 miles. Missed my tunnel crossing. Set off early to try and get across early. Oh well.

He'll probably land in Calais in a rubber dinghy.
He's a spy so it is likely he will arrive in a submarine car with loads of hidden guns that was left in an underground car park close to the prison after downing 5 attack helicopters and single handedly fighting some divers and stuff.

Or he's in the boot of a clio.

It has literally been the top story on most print, online and TV media since the story broke yesterday. If this guy isn't a threat, that does seem OTT at best!

It's heightened discussion around prison conditions which is a good thing but methinks that isn't the prime motivation behind the nonstop coverage.

Sheer embarrassment for the MOJ to let this happen. I see an inside job. Not sure if he was classed as an E-Lister (escape) if so why was he put to work. Head counts were the norm in the Nick I worked in, before any vehicle left the its location and rechecked before leaving the gatehouse.

It might make a good film with a character called Richard Hannah.
Have Kenneth More playing him. Or more definitive perhaps Robert Donat.

There will be a big manhunt because someone will want to avoid being at fault. Portrayal in the media is the biggest driver of what public sector organisations do. Folks wanting a feather in their cap rather than getting a black eye.

Prison security is said to be in a terrible state, 7 staff for 1500 prisoners on some nights and regularly between 33% to 45% off ‘unable to work at any one time. Wandsworth is an even bigger accident waiting to happen right now.

Another tory success story, is there any public service they haven’t ruined?

We got a new Guv at the nick I worked in. He was known as a hatchet man. Got us all together and announced he was going to sack the lame and lazy, and he did. His words were 'why am I paying them and why are you carrying them' They can claim against me but I will have 6 months of their wages to fight them with. It worked. He was a ter wat like.

They have to pay for certain items, which means being employed in workshops like DHL, Kitchens, Gardens etc. Pay is shoite, think it a £1 a day when I worked inside. This guy was given a cushy number in the kitchens as food is always in demand. They have to pay for canteen, which is poor quality and expensive, mainly happy shopper shoite.
Certainly not call it cushy, unless you go to a D Cat like Kirklev prior to release.
