Away to Huddersfield Town in a 1-0 defeat, replacing Bryan 'Taffy' Orritt

He wore No6 playing as WH, registered No441to start for the Boro, a great servant to the mighty Boro he went on to play 318 games, plus 5 as sub, scoring 3 goals between 1963-1976
He was our 1st ever sub when named No12 for the FAC 1st round 5-2 away win at Chester 26th November 1966

His 1st Boro goal was at home to Birmingham in a 4-2 win on the 16th December 1969
His 2nd Boro goal was at home to Norwich in a 1-0 win on the 15th April 1972
His 3rd & final Boro goal was at home to Millwall in a 2-1 win, on the 9th March, the winning goal & the last outfield player to score in that glorious, unforgettable season

His final Boro game was at home to Derby on the 20th March 1976 in a 2-0 defeat, he was subbed by Brian Taylor

He never completed a full season of games during his time at the Boro, he wore shirt Nos, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 12

Son in law of Harold Shepherdson, Frank was a very important member of the 1973-74 legends & had a well deserved testimonial at home to Dynamo Zagreb

Always felt he never got the recognition he deserved, was an important part of that 73/74 team but often suffered the 'only in the team because he's HS's son in law' tag, very unfair.
 
Underestimated right footed left back. Like every member of the 73/74 brigade a Boro legend!
66 game against Chester my first away game without my Dad 1 week shy of my 16th birthday. What a great season that was as well!
 
Yes, he was very underrated.

brilliant, Stamp Collecting! and his car was an Opel Kadett just a normal family car unlike what all the current players drive about in now
 
Stan Anderson was also a stamp collector. There was a piece in the Football League Review about it once.
 
I remember that goal against Millwall, we battered them but couldn't find the net until Frank hit that winner in front of the Holgate. Place erupted.
