Away to Bolton Wanderers in the FAC 5th round 1st leg, so far up to this stage we've scored in each game, losing once, scoring 17 goals & conceding 11, Bolton have only conceding three goals up to this point, scoring 9 & losing one of the games

We'd already met Bolton twice in the league in early december, won at home, lost away, that season in the league only you played the same team back to back

The 1st leg at Burden Park ended 1-0 to Bolton with Boro unable to take anything back to Ayresome Park, so 4 days time we have to score to have a chance of progressing in this seasons FAC & no Wilf Mannion that season till the 6th April, but with Micky Fenton who had bagged 6 goals so far in the FAC & George Hrdwick in the lineup we've still got a chance

The Boro were lucky as in the next round there was another of those horrific stadium disasters here. The quarter final v Stoke continued after 33 people died soon after kickoff with the bodies laid on the edge of the pitch covered with coats.

This must have been horrific and I cannot even begin to imagine what a terrible match this will have been to be involved with.
