Their number 5 on Saturday.

I didn't think he looked particularly good, neither of the CBs looked very comfortable playing out from the back (not sure if that was something that Wazza has introduced) it was very mechanical. They obviously wanted to play it to Tessa's nephew but Josh would line up by him forcing Ruddy to play it left to his partner who plainly didn't have a left foot of any great note and they would bumble about with it for a bit before someone would launch it (only very rarely did they manage to develop an attack from there). I thought we could have usefully pressed them higher up the pitch but seemed to mostly just allow them to try their rather inelegant looking interplay rather than press them?

Yeah, they were so obviously not ready to be playing out from the back. If they've been successful playing a certain way seems strange to change things so quickly.
I think they'll plummet under Rooney.

I think it was a penalty on Crooks when he dived in in the first half.
I think it was, but to be honest in real time I didn't think so. Watching the highlights, I think it probably was but it was unlikely that the ref had a good view of it and the lino in front of the west stand was utterly useless, flag happy for offside but nothing else (a very odd performance I thought)

He was quick. Saved them with his pace a couple of times. Like Muttley, wasn't sure it was a penna at the time, just looking at the highlights. No surprise it wasn't given.

I always like the look of Oliver Burke on a football pitch, he’s a big unit (not unlike Crooksy), got a great first touch and a touch of pace about him.
But something is clearly not right, including loan spells he’s had 12 clubs in the past 9 years.
If somebody (Carrick) could help him sort his head out, he could still be some player.

Dion Sanderson, I thought he looked a very good Centre Back. Did you know he is Tessa Sandersons nephew though?
I'm sure you're all delighted to now have that useless piece of information...😉

I thought he looked clumsy. Never tackled on his feet and was always diving in. Would have given away a penalty for his tackle on Crooks if V&R was available. Athletic yes but learn to tackle on your feed lad!

Whenever I've seen him live/on Sky, I've always thought he stands out as an athlete (big, quick, able to get back, last ditch tackles and blocks) but it's left me questioning why he's getting himself into these positions for those last ditch things. Obviously doesn't play for a great team so he may be having to do/try too much, but he wouldn't be a CB I'd be thrilled with signing. Only young for a CB though, so plenty of time for development.

Not a fan; he's got pace, but that's all he's got. I don't really see the touch.
He's evidence that pace a lone doesn't make a good footballer.

That's a very good point. Top CBs will rarely look hurried. Pally or Woody strolled through most games just calmly taking the ball from lesser players like relieving a small spotty kid of his dinner money.

Been thinking about the performance of the lino in front of the West Stand and I wonder if he was deliberately not helping the referee? Never flagged for fouls right in front of him, didn't seem to flag for throws until the ref had and a few other instances of "not getting involved". Not best pleased to be "assisting" the lady ref?

I always feel that most players with big hair are always overrated. Sanderson, Chaudry, Hanibal. Obviously there are exceptions in Valdarama and Billy Ashcroft.
