* The Unofficial "Official" Boro v Hull Match-Day Thread *

It's the Arteta song at Arsenal.

I think
We've got super Michael Carrick
He knows exactly what we need
Dael Fry at the back, Chuba in attack
Boro going to the Premier League

To the tune of Bad Moon on the Rise

Bad Moon Rising?

Smith is totally vanilla isn’t he ; but must be a good leader or influence meaning a strong character so is picked solely on that reason alone…

Ropey first half hour. Good play from akpom and Forss to get it up the field and a class cross from Smith got us a goal and since then we've been better.
Worried about Steffen passing it about at the back and Giles and mcgree seem to be on different wavelengths. Mcgree has been especially poor but who do you bring on?
Lenihan and fry looking solid. Need to match their subs second half.

Is it just me or does it look like the formation at the back is shifting left slightly at times to make Smith, Fry and Lenihan 3 CBs so that Giles can push up as a wing back?

4 at the back on the whole, but with a bit of in game fluidity...

Am listening with the Hull commentary. Apparently we are growing in confidence and Mgree is at the heart of everything! Oh and Giles is the best crosser in the league!

Amazing the difference a goal makes, although Hull are dire, but there's some green shoots there for sure.

I'd like to see what this team can do with a bit of confidence and swagger, a few wins on the bounce will make all the difference I think.

Find our shape a bit unbalanced/tough watch.
I'm guessing Giles is playing left back in a back 4?
Giles looks terrified to attack and a bit unsure of his duties.
Can't blame him to be fair given the weakness of our defence recently.

Not just you, that's exactly what's happening, with McGree making a midfield 3.

I get why Smith is in, he's solid, albeit a bit unspectacular.

Happy with that.
There's a crispness through the midfield. Should be 2-0 up but will take a lead at half time. Thought we bossed the last 10 and llok good on the break, especially down the right.
This would be a massive win for all manner of reasons.
I agree some good link ups you can see carrick stamp already.

Not hoofing it’s.

Ref is shocking, didn’t book Christie for a pullback nor Woods for delaying the freekick but books Hackney and Smith for nothing.

Don't know if this has already been mentioned, but this is the same ref who gave nothing when Fry was kicked in the face vs Blackburn. But happy to dish out two yellows to us within the first five minutes for innocuous fouls.
