* The Unofficial "Official" Boro v Bristol City Match-Day Thread *

I wonder if Carrick was thinking of subbing off Smith for Dijksteel and going 3 at the back and when we equalised, decided to stick with the back four.

We just need to make sure that comeback is the start of us getting back to how we know we can play.
Complacency set in during the 1st half at Huddersfield then we had a complete defensive collapse that looked to have really knocked us for six.
Playing the champions next up wasn't ideal and those defensive indecisions carried on into today. However, we looked a lot better in the 2nd half and got a bit of spark back. If we can just be a bit more positive in our defending then we've got plenty of ability at the other end. That is down to the attitude at the back and deciding when to play and when to defend. We've recently been caught between both and ended up doing neither far too often.

TBF not many teams come back from being 2-0 down after being undone so easily, rejoice at the fact we did. We have major defence issues, Paddy is far too slow and needs to up his game or go.
Not sure mcnair was the problem tonight. You could point to any one of them and mcnair wasn't directly esponsible for either goal.

Oveall poor defending and good going forward. Anyone who thinks the wheels have c ome off, or we lack confidence, or we have a soft underbelly, have a word with yourselves.

Mgree being on international duty has effected us as he is key to how we play. Now he has had his little break, and got over his jet lag, hopefully see an improvement, and we don't need to improve much to get back to where we were, it's often marginal.

I feel Carrick picked the wrong side tonight I would of started Dijksteel over Mcnair and Bola at LB. We needed better strength at the back and we need to look to keep cleensheets. Then I would of rested Hackney for Barlaser and Mowatt instead of Howson. As our side seems to be running out of steam

Be better if we played well in both halves and not mess it up at the back. Cant understand what`s going on there?
I`m glad our Michael has contingencies in place in the summer. We may find a different defence come August. With the loanees potentially all going back - we may have a fresh injection all over the pitch. What we`ve found in the run-in is some frailties. These can be rectified, but if we want to last the course we need stamina. Tortoise an hare an all that (y)

A good point from where we were at least and as has been mentioned, it's stopped the rot. 👍

Is 4 points from our next 2 games too much to ask for? As that's practically the playoffs home amd hosed IMHO and likely a top 4 finish which is the best we can wish for.

Our attackers proving their metal again, as they have so many times this season, yet the defence? Dear oh dear, thank God for Steffen. I can only hope that Carrick has Fry living in an ogygen tent, with the entire club's medical team and a faith healer for good measure on standby.

Other than that, McGree to start please and we go again on Friday under the lights....👍

We have conceded 50 goals in the league , along with the Mackems ,the most in the top 10.
Teams find it easy to get through our defence and we just don’t have any bite at the back.
