* The Unofficial “Official” Boro v Plymouth Match-Day Thread [02/24] *

Last seasons performances seem an age away now.
On reflection, investing in the side last summer would have been a lot cheaper than it will be going forward as I can honestly see Hackney and VdB going this summer meaning any quality we've had over the past 2 seasons will be distant memories. It'll cost us an absolute fortune to get anywhere near the playoffs again.
Pretty obvious at the time though.
And people keep going on about loans being dead money.

This is shocking. If we sell Hackney and send the loans back , we will need to get rid of at least another 8 of this squad. We will buy younger players to replace them hoping to unearth a gem.
It will be just as bad if not worse next season.

I thought Barlaser put some decent balls into the box, and into good areas, but there was absolutely zero to go at, and everything players he was trying to pass to was out numbered or outgunned.

Thought O'Brien was terrible again. The lad is lazy and can't pass 10 yards, neve mind pass to the direction the receiving player is going, absolutely ludicrous.

Dijksteele is terrible

No idea why Glover's getting in ahead of Dieng, but something must have happened, there's no other reason.

Wasn't the worst player but he was bloody awful, how anyone can think he was a positive today is beyond me. Although with Mart's posts about Silvera since he arrived it's no surprise really.
I’ve barely posted about him until the last couple of weeks where hes done well. I wasn’t one of the ones going ott about him at the start of the season, you’re mixing me up with someone else

He carried the ball, got us up the pitch and got some half decent crosses in, he was ok today in a really really poor showing

This year’s team is vastly inferior to last year’s unfortunately, especially at home. I’m not sure how we’ve become so bad at home. As mentioned above, major changes needed. I hope Carrick wants to give it a go with his third team in three years!

I'm glad we don't have to play the team we had last year, especially the one from the last 6 months of last season, as we would get tore a new one.

We really need a natural leader, someone on the pitch to get a grip when things get tough, can tell we miss Leinehan so much.

Honestly thought Silvera was the only player to come out of the game with any credit.

He was the only player that got into decent positions - but a couple of decent balls in the box. Absolutely fluffed our only actual chance and was still not good. But I thought he was the only player on the pitch I couldn't individually criticise.

Won the passing though, that's the real quiz.

🫠
I would love to see those stats broken down by area of the pitch. 90% in sideways and backwards passes, 0% completion in the final third, 83% average.

10 shots, zero on target says a lot about our finishing ability mind, as does conceding 22 shots at home to a team who are meant to be worse than us.

I suppose it's not fair criticising players who are playing to their standard, it's just their standard is low.

We give players too much praise for 2 good games in 5, and forget the bad 3, it doesn't work for the level some think we should be at with this team.
