* The Unofficial “Official” Boro v Plymouth Match-Day Thread [02/24] *

This is the kind of performance that, at another club, will get a manager sacked. It’s as bad as the first 5 games of the season
It's a bit worse than most of those early games.

Carrick needs to do something with these lads at half time. Not sure shouting will help but he has to somehow get them playing.

To late to switch to 5 at the back when we are chasing the game. Not sure what he does to be honest.

Play with 3 centre backs beat Leicester, Play with 2, get the run around from Plymouth who have 1 win in 17 away from home !

We have been absolutely sh*t.

There is absolutely no excuse for this goalkeeper being selected. Ayling has been terrible, Barlaser has been even worse, Thomas even worse than that, and Silvera even worse than that.

We will do well to stop Plymouth scoring one or two more tbh.

It’s so frustrating. I don’t know why we expect anything different from this team. This is the most typical boro team I have seen for a long time. Best Leicester, maybe turn the corner. Get outplayed by Plymouth who are 5 points off the bottom.

Carrick has been let down massively by our recruitment team but let's be honest, he's done nothing to change the way we play despite not working for months and most of the season.

This is getting very tight to watch and is as bad as any Boro team I've seen including Strachan's and Woodgate's teams

I know MC doesn't do it normally but we desperately require subs for the 2nd half - awful to watch that.

Key halftime for Carrick. I think if he doesn’t even try to change things quickly and decisively a lot of fans are going to question his management.

Right up there with the worst boro performances I've ever seen in that first 45.

Only not 4-5 nil down because some decent keeping (Although you could argue he should do better with the first goal)

I'm trying to think of a worse performance

Forss down the middle isn't getting a sniff, as I've suggested before, it's just not his game.
We need a striker and a defensive midfielder to stop teams just walking through us or pressuring us into a mistake.
Injuries are playing their part, but the inconsistencies from one week to the next are what keeps holding us back. From a switched on performance last week to this lazy, dreadful stuff this week is down to the players mentality. Even if you're not brilliant, you can make a game of it by actually competing. We've looked awful both with and without the ball and Plymouth have had to do very little to get into goal scoring positions.

We haven’t had a shot ( that I can remember.)

We attack it’s basically 6v 10 and when they attack it’s 4 v 4.

Glover made 2 mistakes, made 3 really good saves, our left back issues don’t look like they have been resolved but only Mc Nair looks secure to me so far.

My theory: someone at the club has decided that the only way to make the next 3 months interesting is to get into a relegation fight
