* The Unofficial “Official” Boro v Bristol City [Feb / 24] Match-Day Thread *

I don't think it is a cop out. The clearance he squirmed up into t the box was the defenders doing for getting in front of him. It was a goal line clearance as well

He makes himself available on the flack constantly. He does give the ball away on occasions, often when he is trying to play one touch football, I agree. He is good going forward though and, I assume, playing to instructions.
So basically the basis of your argument is that he puts 2 good balls into the box a match and occasionally busts behind the defence?

Because that is not even close to being enough

Team selection was dreadful. We play a formation with 2 CMs so I have no idea why we're forcing 3 into the starting lineup. None of them should be playing further forward and none of them are good enough to make it worthwhile.

We have 1 fit striker and he's not playing up front. It's just making things harder for ourselves.
I love Carrick but he's lost his way recently. Team selections have been woeful.

Carrick has to take some responsibility for this $hit cart. We have looked well off the pace for quite a few games lately. He picks the team he picks the subs, Totally below standard.

Watching the VIPbox link posted on here (thanks whoever posted it) , the Bristol half time analysis people are awful. However, seeing the highlights again (lowlights), first goal Engel lost his man and got the wrong side as it was played through, then it was panic stations. The second one was a misunderstanding between Hackney and O brien, then GLover should not be getting beaten at his near post at that range. We are being beaten down the wings repeatedly, they clearly think it is a weak spot for us and they are right ..however we aren't much better through the middle either. Hackney playing deeper is a lot better, but Greenwood is ineffective, he is working hard and chasing a lot but to no real effect. There is little link between midfield and centre forward, but that is because we don't have a real centre forward playing. We need a different player at 10. Azaz isn't looking like a wide player at all. I would rather put greenwood wide, Azaz 10, Forss at 9 and McGree on in the other wide place.

I didn't say that and you know that.

This is one thing about Carrick that does my head in, no substitutions when we are playing horrifically. No doubt he’ll wait until the 70th minute to make any changes

Its not about selections or formations , the players aren't good enough that's the reason. Poor transfers by Scott

Created a decent chance there and couldn't get a lucky roll of the ball right in front of their goal. Maybe next time.

I agree. Squad not good enough. But last few selections haven't helped. Our best players out of position or on bench

He's hooked Engel twice at half time this season. I thought he'd have got it again today.

Engel started the 2nd half as poorly as the first

Given it away twice

Dived in and pass down our left side for a big chance for them

He’s a liability and we will never get close to the top 10 with him as our left back

Shambles

Even if they played correct positions I believe it wouldn't make any difference, we lack pace , creativity and power in nearly every postion.

Currently working in Hong Kong, so having to rely on this thread and Google for how we're doing. It seems thus far I'm not missing much.
