I think Yes Minister has been quite skillfully portrayed as fact by Brexit politicians of late, when it isn't really, particularly with regard to the EU and obstructive (Remainer) civil servants. People have bought into this because they want to.

Whereas The Thick Of It is a degree of competence to which we can only aspire these days.
