I was cleaning the loft out last week and found this album among my football stuff. You had to cut tokens out from the Sun and send them away to get stamps to fill the album. When I looked at the album it was used, pages bent, folded etc. There were about 40 stamps missing. All mentions of Middlesbrough were underlined in red pen and the results of most of the fixtures were written in. It must have took ages for me to create it when I was about 13. I looked on the internet this week and couldn’t buy all the stamps to complete it. Anyway I went on ebay and bought a fully completed one for £30. It was a lads album from Leeds. Perfect condition, all the stamps had stamp hinges on. Mine were just stuck to the book. Anyway, I thought, stuff it. I pinched the stamps that were missing from his album and put them in mine. I stuck them down like in 1972. OK, the album will not be worth as much as his was because he used stamp hinges etc but at least, after 48 years, I have finally finished the album for that little lad that I was, all those years ago.
