The spirit of Brexit-style British togetherness being exemplified by Wetherspoons

utterly detestable behaviour.

the moron running the show has told his staff they should go and work in Tesco's if they need money.

Karma is a bitch

Tim Martin is a very wealthy man he could probably pay 40 000 peoples salary for a few months and not even notice it.
Plus he will get most of that money back from the government, what happened to we are all in this together.

I said the same when he started distributing pro-brexit propaganda in his pubs. Looks like with his latest stunt I was right to do so.
will his normal clientele care less about what the worker get paid? or will they just line up for cheap booze?

I bet the place would be rammed today if it was still open.

I used to really like Wetherpoon's on the basis that they provided real ale in areas where it was not always otherwise available. It was a chain you could rely on. But I also stopped using them when the brexit propoganda started and I won't be going back. Coincidentally my CAMRA membership card has just popped through the letterbox. In the past they have always given away vouchers for use in Wetherspoons so I was ready to pop them straight into the recycling. But they have widened the scheme to other pub chains so I'll be hanging onto them although there won't be much chance to use them for the foreseeable.

except what he did say is nothing like the posted image in the first post..

Tim Martin told 40,000 workers in a video that they should feel free to take jobs at retailers such as Tesco while Wetherspoon pubs remain closed.
He said: “If you’re offered a job… if you think it’s a good idea, do it.”
In the video, he said he would therefore “completely understand” if workers did not want “to wait around”.
He added that any former workers for the pub chain would receive first priority on future applications to rejoin the company.

Much the same with me. I always used to grab a couple of pints at Wetherspoons at Heathrow when passing through. Haven't been in one since he started his Brexit thing.

Dispicable, during this awful virus we have seen celebrates & Joe Public go over & above to help your community, the country they live, while we've had people, as mentioned on this thread & Joe Public show the awful, selfish, I don't give two hoots as I'm more important than you Jacks of this world
I enjoy watching Pierce Morgan on good morning Britain, he's a very passionate individual to say the least, get him on to weather's points & have him ask the man himself why he's doing what he's doing

How is that different from what is listed in the image? Staff aren’t being paid, bonuses stopped and he has told them they can apply to Tesco? This seems to be exactly what is said above.

He always looked like a great big fkin lummox, blathering on about sovereignty and freedom, hope he gets whats coming to him...what goes around.
Never used his pubs and pleased I didnt.

Yes I got the vouchers a couple of weeks ago but I won't be using them in Wetherspoons.

Disgraceful.

I think I posted a while ago that when I first left the Poly and went to work in London, he opened his first one in, I think, East Finchley. Like the micropubs of today and a great space.

I can’t understand why Wetherspoons is closed anyway. I saw Tim Martin on the TV last week and he assured me that there’s been no transmission of the virus in pubs.

If anyone would know, surely he would. When was the last time any of these expert scientists were in a Wetherspoons? 😉

This is a spiteful gesture from a loathsome man. He is furious the government forced him to close his pubs and is taking it out on his workers. Sadly the majority of Wetherspooners won’t give a toss and his pubs will be packed out with people drinking dirt cheap ‘we beat Coronavirus’ celebration beer with new staff paid from opening day only. If only we had morals and values people like him would get what they deserve. Sadly we don’t

I suspect duff man will be extremely correct. For all we can see how terrible it is what this man is doing to his workers. A large majority, probably his regular customers, won’t give a toss.
