The rain in Spain.

I was in southern Spain a couple of weeks ago and lots of pools, water features were turned off, though I thought this maybe more of a seasonal thing

Be a huge impact on the Spanish GDP performance if tourists started looking elsewhere…
You’d expect the desalination plants to start popping up in a lot of places 🤷‍♂️

This was last year at the main reservoir that supplied the Axarquia - the area to the east of Malaga up to Nerja. The recent bit of rain has helped a little, but not massively

I moved here nearly 9 years ago now and this is the wettest spring so far. Much needed! The reservoirs in our province are now at more than 50% which - while not exactly being fantastic - is so much better than the 20% of a couple of months ago.

Málaga province (Costa del Sol) is still really bad. Fingers crossed for there.

Tourist places are still allowed to fill their pools but not private properties is the last I heard. Still correct @Malaguena ?

I've got a place in Alicante region, have thought about selling and buying in either Catalonia or Costa del Sol but their issues with water are definitely something that comes into the equation. From what I've read both those regions are a little behind in the investment needed to safeguard supplies but obviously the lack of rain is the major factor.

It's not as bad as some of the publicity would have you make out - we're in the City and our block's communal pool is OK, and is used by 20 odd residences. Each urbanisation has it's own pool catering for a similar amount of properties.

The tourist board kicked up a massive fuss when it was suggested pools in holiday villas might not be allowed to be filled and that was rapidly dropped. Also, since it rained a bit during Spring, it doesn't appear to have the profile it did have then.

On the other side of the coin I'm in Tanzania this week where normally the rains last from March till mid April. Due to El Nino, they're still going at some rate and half of Ngorogoro National Park was inaccessible today, while people have been dying in Kenya due to flash floods. Weather patterns are changing everywhere and much harder to predict.

My son and his partner had gone to Dubai to see his father-in-law who works there and after they left yesterday morning, the rains started again and flooded the city. His flight out to Dubai was delayed due to flooding. This is a picture from his father-in-laws apartment
