The psychology of being a football fan.

Having read various comments about the win at Stoke I think it's worth pointing out some basic 'fan psychology' to help get things in perspective

  1. As a general comment the other team will create chances, if you can't hack it then I suggest football is not for you.
  2. All opposition attacks will seem horrifyingly threatening (see Harry Pearson's grandad in The Far Corner........."I don't like the look of this.....").
  3. All the Boro's attacks will seem pathetically impotent.
  4. When the opposition misses a chance then it's because the Boro were lucky.
  5. When the Boro miss a chance it's because we are fecking useless.
I always try to view proceedings through the filter of these simple rules ............. mind you I'm still bricking it.

Whenever an opposition player stays down he is play-acting and time-wasting, even if we're 1-0 up with 3 minutes to go.

We are the only team that loses to teams lower in the league and occasionally beats good teams i.e. "Typical Boro"

never won here since 1907 in 150 games. guaranteed win! haha

or the old "hasn't scored in 60 games" - nets a hatrick
