I do get the fact that its not easy, especially if you've been brought up by fat people that don't care they're fat.
Hopefully now some can look at that study and see that in fact it's not down to genetics and they CAN do something about it.

People simply eat too much of the wrong things.
The developed world is getting fatter and it's down to cheap plentiful processed food.
It's a time bomb.
Yes, in addition to sedentary lifestyles.
 
Eating habits are by far the biggest contributing factor.

And it becomes harder as you get older.
Yes but the best way to lose weight and keep it off is to do both together.

The exercise routine can also give some structure which distracts from food preoccupation and exercise gains can reinforce dietary gains, physically and psychologically.
 
Sorry but it appears you can't blame your metabolism any more...
This ignores the effect of stress, trauma and other mental health related factors that elevate the level of cortisol for an individual vs. the average
