The NHS is broken

This is shameful. I think for a fully working NHS the tax take has to go up though. Preferably from business. However a functioning NHS pays for itself with a fit healthy workforce. It's the initial investment that may sting.

What an awful case.

As much as the funding is vital. Reforms are also needed. Streeting has been pretty clear on this but gets pelters for mentioning it.

Have a listen to Alan Milburn on The Rest is Politics Leading podcast. He talks a lot about reforms that were needed alongside increased funding back in 97. Really interesting listen.

I can understand the concern and distrust though. Especially when you have these lunatics in charge.

The issue is that they haven't increased the level of funding due to 'austerity'. The amount they squandered on the pandemic covers up what they failed to invest in the decade before.

They essentially have a year and a half's non-spending during that 10 years compared to what would have been spent by any other government. If you came up with the actual figure and said it out loud, people wouldn't believe you.

The major issue isn't the NHS. There is more funding and there are more staff. The major issue is the increase in demand due to every other service like social care being decimated. That and staff wages/working conditions have been behind inflation which breeds low morale, increases sickness and reduces productivity so we're spending more and getting less for it.

Underfunded, understaffed, overmanaged, money haemorrhaging, massive waiting times, massive delays. I feel like we've been saying this for years, how long before something is done?

They still vote for them on here, I blame the last lot of Tory voters as much as the health secretary and the Tory party.
