I'm sure everyone has one these.

One side is for grating cheese. But what are the other sides for? I don't think I have ever used them for anything. My best guess is that the inventor was a sadist and the sole purpose of them is to shred your hands when you do the washing up.

I'm surprised I've not seen one of these used as some sort of torture device in a movie. Also surprised I've never had an injury from one, not one which has drawn blood anyway.

Can be quite dangerous these, in the wrong hands, but they're nowhere near as dangerous as a mandoline slicer.

Removed the end of my thumb with a mandolin on Christmas Eve. Claret everywhere. Still knacks if I catch it on something.

Easy done I expect, as they're so sharp and you get no second chances.

Scares the **** out of me every time I use it, which is a lot. I also keep losing the handle bit which grabs the food, so end up using it without, which is playing with fire.

That's exactly what I did. Then ordered up a spare off Amazon with my bleeding digit.

Thing is that guide/ holder thing can also give too much confidence I think, I've had a few close calls where it's slipped.

You/ we need some of those anti cut gloves, but no doubt we won't buy them, then this will come back to haunt us.

I've often thought a suit of armour for kitchen use wouldn't be over the top.

There was a documentary on channel four late 90s. Hookers, hustlers pimps and Thier John's .....a guy paid for one of these to be used in a certain way

If you only ever grate cheese you might as well get a rotary grater

i use the wide one for larger slices of cheese or anything like carrot slices

The small thin grater I use for shredded carrot or onion

The fine one for hard items like nutmeg or Parmesan cheese
