The Mela

What a lovely few hours we've just spent there. A great turn out, good food and music, the fairground rides were popular, as were the clothes and food stalls.

Well done to the organisers, and the weather held up, though it could be a damp last hour.

We had the full intention of attending yesterday but the weather was far too hot for us ginger skins to be out in the open.

Always a great weekend.

There seemed to be some very suspicious trends at this years Mela. A lot of stalls were ‘Cash Only’, including fairground rides, and a couple of ‘Del Boy’ stalls, including the aforementioned pillow stalls. 🤔

Still can’t believe I got fleeced £7 for a 2 minute ride on a Ghost Train. Live and learn though.

We enjoyed today, although we didn't part with any cash. We had Sunday lunch at "The Oven" then onto the Mela, it did have a market feel to it this year- which I will pass on to the organisers, but everyone I spoke to said they enjoyed it and the stage field was busy, loud and fun. The (re-arranged) Mela ended up with good weather this year so had great crowds, I suspect that, that will be taken notice for future plans.

Its been held previously in June, July and August. I do prefer the event in the park as opposed to Centre Square
