The eternal tyranny of the business suit...

Last time I wore a suit ........

For an interview, put the suit on, looking smart.....or so I thought. At the time I'd lost a couple of stone so lot of clothes didn't fit.

So wife comes in, looks at me and tells me I look like a kid first day at secondary school with blazer/pants/shirt all too big. Massive confidence boost.......😭😭

Didn't get the job 😳
If i lost a couple of stone my suits might fit again

On the contrary: I agree with school uniform. I just think it should be comfortable: trainers, joggers, sweatshirts, that sort of thing. Who wears stiff leather shoes out of choice? Blazers, ties?
Schools went down that route and the kids all looked scruffy and the latest trainers crept in.

Ask a kid wearing Adidas four-stripes what they would rather wear.

I think the last two times I’ve worn a suit are for funerals, and I work for large multinational enterprises

what an odd set of replies. If a suit doesn't fit why wear it ? if the trackie and trainers don't fit why wear them ?

If you are not comfortable in a jacket and trousers see what you can do with your "gaffer"

I wore a suit virtually all my working life and am still happy to do so. If I'm dossing at home its trackies and a gilet most of the time.

Ties are an emotive issue to say the least. I'm happy wearing one and my shirts fit as well. if I'm dossing at home its a polo or a scruff bag shirt with button down collar and no tie

relax its not that important but if I want to wear a suit why criticise it. As long as I am comfortable in it

I got a call from an agent. Can I make an interview in a couple of days. Didn't have time to buy a new one. Nor wanted to. So had to go dressed as David Byrne.

Each to their own, I personally hate wearing a collar and tie, suit even moreso. But that's just me.

🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

It's evident that for many of the younger bunch a suit isn't part of their uniform, whereas a lot of us oldies grew up with them, are comfortable in them and know how to wear them.
