The end?

The woman is a complete loony. Shouldn't be anywhere near such a position.
See, when I think this through, I get so angry. She is the perfect advert for the end of democracy. She was elected. How? Why?
Is it wrong that I wish there was a death penalty for her/it? She is a pig. She even looks like one.
Should we overthrow democratic government and revert to a meritocracy so that skid marks like her do not get smeared into governmental underpants?

Looks like the AD is back up and running. Tu22 carrying kh 22 cruise missiles.

Isn’t that from ages ago? I’m Sue I’ve seen that before?

And snyway, Russian or not that is still watching the end of someone’s life. The world should be better than this. Maybe I’m just naive but i despair at mankind at times.

I’m lost for words about how the world is these days. I’m sure 99% just want a quiet happy peaceful life.

It’s just all too depressing.

I don’t disagree with that. Someone’s death ought not be something watched as any form of entertainment, even morbid curiosity.

They were almost certainly flying that plane with murderous intent however. Not just flying about harmlessly. This has to be stopped. Meaning Russia has to be stopped. There is no other way.

In context.

Update. The plane malfunctioned. So not shot by either side.

Russians say the pilot survived.

Edit: further info come to me. It was Budanoved .... but I don't know how yet.

Yeah, I know and agree. I just wish it wasn’t so / the world wasn’t the way it is currently.

A nice Friday good news story for you from Commander Cherrycola. Lord knows, we could do with it.

"I mostly talk about arms and consumables, but there is most definitely a civilian side that is also bleeding in this war.

Imagine that you are the Education Minister of Ukraine, and as with everything else there is a gaping hole in your budget due to the war.
But still there are kids, college students, university students etcetera, and all of their teachers, schools, rebuilding schools...
So, naturally the holes are big and gaping, so much so that they didn't even have money for the salaries of the teachers.

Said minister had to go on a tour to beg for money to continue to be able to teach kids.
His plan was to go around to every single European country + EU and hopefully get a million here, and a million there, to plug as many holes as possible.
For reasons unknown he started with Norway.

After having explained his problem his Norwegian counterpart answered:
-Yes.
At this point the Ukrainian minister was happy that they would consider paying a part of it, so he went into details about what things cost and so on.
And he once again got:
-Yes.

At this point he started to ramble somewhat incoherently, so he got asked:
-Total budget?
He answered his counterpart, and got this answer:
-Yes.

At this point it dawned on him that Norway was picking up the entire 2024/2026 Education Budget of Ukraine.
He broke down sobbing.

From now on every single teacher and other school staff, all 500 000 of them is paid by Norway.
Plus upkeap, books, stuffs, new schools... the entire works."

Well done Norway. Oil money working for good (for a change).

Oddly I can see a deal being done if Trump becomes elected (which I know is probably 50/50 at the moment).

Trump maybe a very odd egomaniac but he's not a warmonger. He sees himself as the ultimate businessman, someone who can deal with anyone.
As such I think he would cut a peace deal that would favour Moscow and that would please Putin so much that he would be willing to take a land deal.
Ukraine would agree to it if Trump threatens to pull U.S support and may agree not to join NATO.

Again, won't happen because Europe won't tolerate that.
In the next few weeks there are 7 patriot systems arriving and the F16s start to appear.

That US package just agreed will not arrive any time soon though, thanks to petulant MAGA ammendments.

My single favourite post of the whole sorry episode.

Fantastic.

No chance Trump will negotiate a deal. He's purely a bad actor and a tool of the RF.

Whatever deal he'd attempt to broker would, favour the RF so such an extent that it would, have to be imposed on Ukraine by the NATO and the rest of Europe. It would never happen. Ukraine would never accept that unless they were financially and militarily spent. Which would suit Trump perfectly, of course.

On the US deal

"US Aid Bill for Ukraine
I have never been so happy about being wrong in my entire life.
With a 311 vs 112 vote the house passed a 61 Billion dollar bill for Ukraine.

Now that Bill will go to the Senate for voting, but it seems like it should pass in short order tomorrow, and then land on Bidens desk on Monday for prompt signing.

Most of the bill is for 2024 spending, but there's a couple of other items that are interesting.
One is that it includes an order for transfer of longrange ATACMS.
The other is that Air Defence Missiles should be supplied up to and including 2026.
The last part is a godsend.

Changes
It is early days, but this will make for positive changes in a few months.
And in the short term it will help tremendously with Air Defence.

Yes, Ukraine would not have fallen without US aid, but the war would have lasted far longer, and cost many more lives.
Problem was always that Europe started from a s***y place, and we ourselves put ourselves in that s***y place.
We have worked miracles on building up production, but that should have been there already, and we also should have had stockpiles.
Basically, we ****ed up.

But, in the next couple of years we would have gotten there to make Ukraine be able to win, and that would have required EU soldiers involved in direct fighting on the side of Ukraine.

With the US aid we can get over quite a few humps and hurdles, and it will shorten the war, and it might even if we are lucky make going into direct war with Russia not needed.
We probably still will have to take over defence of Western Ukraine, but that does not come with combat as such.

Also, EU production have been a tad ad hoc, with us spraying water on fires as they flare up.
We are now producing a lot, but we still lack the width of things, and we daily discover "crap we forgot about that".
Because the truth is that US have a completely different experience in these things compared to us.
Where we run like hell to catch up, US can burp and pick stuff off shelf that we never even had around.

Anyway, I was gloriously wrong, and I am very happy about having been wrong.
US in the end remembered how to do US, and I like it.
Sorry for having been a grumpy donkey... but being on the receiving end makes one grumpy in this instances."
