The elderly during the NHS strikes

No ambulances if they fall

Nice for the government to tell us it’s all about the strikes.

The fact that caring people in the NHS have been pushed so hard they feel they have to strike is, of course, irrelevant.

The Government and RWM are really ramping up the rhetoric that all striking workers are causing YOU an inconvenience and it's YOU that will suffer - the uncaring b*stards!!

These leftie Marxist militants woke/snowflake generation are going to ruin YOUR Xmas and - god forbid - your nan gets ill during a strike. Well, all THEIR fault if she pegs it.

Absolutely f*cking zero accountability. None. Ransack the public coffers on dodgy PPE; "forgotten" insurance for the debt repayment; almost crash the market to the tune of £30bn for an idiotic Tufton St led economic f*ck up. But no, no money for the over worked under paid public sector workers.

But that's YOUR fault.

The country is slipping towards end of life care, and we all will suffer. Not the millionaires - they will simply shrug and f*ck off somewhere less depressing.

Happy days and a Merry Xmas eh? 😳

Would this government explain why
this tory government are doing what they have always done when they want to shut down a industry that is good for the nation and sell its assets off to their mates.

they commence on a long term lack of investment - then they stop recruitment in any meaningful terms and leave vacancies unfilled - then they crate a management chaos system - then they attack the workforce via their trade union on pay, terms, conditions & workload - then they start dismantling section by section whist getting their mates in the media and press to tell the tory voters and two-bob capitalists spivs there is an opportunity to be had - public sector is bad/private sector is good back us at the next election scream the press - lazy workers, generous pension schemes, too many holidays........repeat ad infinitum.

same pattern they used for Steel, Coal, Telephones, Rail, Mail & Sail.

NHS, BBC, Education are next on the list - they've tried so far - but resistance is strong on those, despite that they have still made inroads - torys do what tories have to do - they hate the likes of me and you.

we should be reciprocating that hate and have nothing to do with them or their policies - reject at every turn.

"cowards flinch and traitors sneer"

Some pensioners have waited 40 hours for an ambulance BEFORE the strike. Would this government explain why.
Because there are no hospital beds available so ambulances have to wait outside until a bed becomes available so they can offload their patients and proceed to the next call.

The annoying thing is that many patients who are taking up hospital beds are well enough to be released from hospital but because there are no availability in social care for their aftercare they have to stay in hospital until they can be released even though they are fit enough to be discharged.

Until the social care sector is fixed then expect ambulance waiting times to continue as they are.

They can't even unload the ambulances into A&E, because A&E is full of people who should go to a GP, but there aren't any GPs.

But don't worry, the Tories have the solution: they are throwing £28.6m at Saatchi to run an advertising campaign asking people not to be ill.

There are GPs, they just don't like seeing people.

Recently I was in A&E @ James Cook, the lady next to me being seen to by the receptionist advised that her GP surgery had no appointments left that day and was advised to go to A&E, that was 9.45am. There’s no wonder A&E are under pressure, yet some GP practices are still at lockdown status of 2020. There needs to be a look into how poor some GP practices are treating their patients

I agree that a lot of GP practices could be much better run, but the FTE of qualified GPs has dropped by about 1% a year since 2015. When they were already at capacity, and demand is increasing, that has a huge impact.

I am firmly on the side of people striking.

On the GP side of things though, as a separate point. Why is it impossible to book a routine appointment for a few weeks in advance?

If you want an appointment you have to call and wait in the queue for hours as if it's an emergency, I do think they need to sort out their booking systems and have separate streams for same day urgent v more routine check up type appointments.

Not just pensioners. I remember many years ago a lad had his leg broken at a football match at Whitby. In December.
Had to wait 2 1/2 hours for an ambulance whisky laying in the centre circle as medical staff at the ground were told not to move him due to be the nature of the break.
It's a problem that's been around for many many years.

Round about 12 years I reckon, or at least got much worse since then.

My GPs open at 8 am, if you dont ring before 8:20 you wont get an apointment, and you cant book one for later in the week they only do same day, its ridiculous.

Being economical with that as well as 100s of soldiers have just been put on 5 days notice to move until the first week of Feb to cover for the ambulance service

I think it must depend on where you live sadly. With our local GP you can phone up anytime and make a routine appointment. To be seen that day you must phone up at 8am but you don't wait more than 10 mins on the phone. Phone appointment first and then you go in if they need to see you.

In all fairness, personally, this way of operating seems logical to me. They can triage the patients before getting them in. I appreciate our GP is probably the exception, not the rule though.

I used to think, pre-Tory rule, that the army were for fighting wars etc, not bailing domestic services out. It's funny now how some applaud this - I think it's sickening how we call on our armed forces because the Government has got public services in such a state that they have to strike.
