Cost £2.5m got two years left on his deal.. no squad number.. out in the wilderness

22 appearances for Shalke.. 5 for Mallorca.. 6 for Boro, 9 for hibs, 7 for San Hose..

23 years old.. he need to be playing games.. no rumours, no interest

Bundasliga > La Liga > Championship > SPL > MLS I can’t even think what the next ring of the ladder is? League of Ireland?

Maybe teaming up with Aaron Connolly wasn’t such a bad idea after all.

I don't feel sorry for him as he's seen the world at a young age and been paid to do it, but things just don't seem to be happening for him, do they?

Maybe he's one of those players who racks up stats which algorithmically suggest he has potential and that's what got us interested. A fraction of what we've spent on ineffective attackers and strikers over the past 15 years, at least.

Peaked to early? Has he not been taking care of himself? Injuries?

Genuinely interested as to where he goes next.

Yeah me too it is bit strange, could be wrong was he not one of Scott's first signings and Scott transfer dealings have been very good so far so he does know how to spot a player, be interesting to know what they saw in him in the first place hopefully he gets a club soon where he does well for his sake

Firstly, he's not cost anywhere near £2.5m.

I think he's over that the club saw some potential in, but it's just not been realised and he seems to have gone backwards a little, if anything.

Which will always happen with the model the club now operates under, as long as this is the exception, rather than the rule.

I hope he finds a club and gets settled.

Remember Wilder saying he wasn't a footballer. As much hate as Wilder gets on here ( deservedly so) maybe he wasn't wrong about Hoppe. Just a d*ck about the way he dealt with it. Carrick has seen enought of him to make a sound judgment and obviously has given up on him.

Hoppe may just lack the in game intelligence and shiwn that he won't improve, even when coached over a prolonged period.

Twitter whisper/speculation of a loan to Huddersfield Town.. with an option to buy?

I think he’ll move to another country..

Does anyone know how his loans have panned out? I mean obviously not that successfully.. but was it his ability that let him down or is there something else going on?

Pools or York for a total fresh start? He's failed at lower levels than ours, can't even see a league 1 loan rehabilitating him.

Needs to get his mojo and love for the game back somewhere, still young enough to have a decent career.

He’s had 8 international appearances for USA it’s amazing how he’s just dropped off

Balogan is the same age and has 15, Aden Morris who is a year younger has 5

Dele Alli drop off, Ravel Morrison travel shoes and the Sammy Ameobi invisibility cloak.. what a combo!

Curious is bang on. When he's was first linked I watched a reel of his Schalke highlights and was very impressed.

A really good hat trick against Hoffenheim - cool, composed finishes - and (I think) a couple of goals against Frankfurt, which included outmuscling Martin Hinteregger and a nutmeg finish against Kevin Trapp, so far from a flat track bully.

Remains a mystery why he's never even had a sniff here, but it's unlikely the wrong decision. Maybe the injury he got at Málaga affected his confidence or had some limiting effect on what made him look so promising in Germany.

Hope he gets his career going somewhere, but it's clearly not going to be here.

Bundasliga > La Liga > Championship > SPL > MLS > Northern League
Germany > Spain > England > Scotland > USA >

Canada? Mexico?

Lower leagues in France, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands? Just to fill up the passport?

Switzerland?

Transfermerkt only shows two period of injury/absence with stomach problems missed about a month out on 21/22 missing out on four games.

Maybe he has Crohn’s disease? or something wrong with his digestion? Could lead to a nutritional loss and something that could affect strength/speed and recovery times.

The US national team are terrible to be fair, just being American and playing in Europe probably gets you at least one cap at the moment.
It’s a pretty long blag to be able to pull the wool over so many eyes on football!

He said he wanted the number 9 when he first got here.. I think.. did he?

Pretty big balls to rock up up and be straight in like that.
