The Championship is a Tough League to Get Out of

Unlike the Premier League, the Championship is a much more level playing field. Just because you have a good season one year doesn’t automatically mean you will have a good season the following year. If you take away Luton who got promoted, look what happened to the other 3 teams on the opening weekend of the Championship who competed in last seasons playoff:

Boro - Lost
Sunderland - Lost
Coventry - Lost

I know the transfer market is still open and teams starting 11 will more than likely change but I don’t care what anyone says the Championship is a tough league to get out of and has been for years which is one reason why I prefer it to the PL. Let’s not get too down about our opening weekend loss and move on to the next game.

It can be difficult to build something when you're a Championship club, mainly because you're at risk of losing your best players, and not retaining loan players.

It can be the same for many Premier League clubs in fairness, but many of them at least have the funding to adequately replace key players who've been sold.

We've paid the price for failing to get promoted last season. Loanees who were key for us haven't returned, and we're now having to rely on young players with potential. It really could go either way with them.

We also may still end up losing Akpom.
