The Brexit delusion

It amazes me the amount of people who believe replacing the party in charge with another is going to change everything ,it’s not they are all so out of touch with us mere mortals that they really couldn’t care less about any of the general public .
Let’s face it regardless of the name of the party in power it will still be them and us get used to it !

There will come a point in the medium term whereby 'Get Brexit Undone' will be the slogan that guarantees an election win with a promise for us to return to the EU at the earliest opportunity. No party will want to miss this trick when available.

That’s all well and good ,but when all the parties are as uninspiring as they all currently are it will be like picking who’s your favourite teletubby come voting time !!

That's what the Tories have conditioned you to believe

Exactly. Sadly we are not at that point now and such a slogan or even a commitment to a further referendum would be political suicide not least because a lot of voters are still in denial about the changes brought here. This lie still works...

Whoever you want, it's a typical RW playbook tactic, take your pick but old Rupert M for me.

Surely Mr. Murdock must be on the Grim Reapers "to be collected" list shortly, how old is the c***?

For the record I don’t support ANY political party
Same. But they are not the same. Don’t get my wrong, they are ALL self serving careerist narcissists. It’s more the level they go, and their willingness to attack the working man that differentiates them.

An example: lately they have been going after Ángela Rayner for claiming two pairs of AirPods on expenses.

This is defrauding the people of tax money. But is it on the same level as the MILLIONS Michelle Mone has stolen? I don’t believe it is

False equivalence.

How is it defrauding? A pair of ear buds is a piece of office equipment these days. Have you never done Teams calls?

Just because MP's get paid a fair amount of money doesn't mean they don't give a toss about those on the lower end of the pay spectrum. Loads of Labour MP's have come from that position themselves, and history has proven they have done what is in their means to help these people a lot more than the Tories.

Being an MP is a job which requires responsibility, and is a difficult job to attain, and for their level of pay isn't actually that great, and they're often only an MP for 5-15 years. Sure they get expenses, but loads of jobs at that level and far less do, and as long as the expense or for work-related things, and travel/ accommodation, then fair enough. Heating stables, not so much.

If MP's were paid crap, and were just general folk of the street with no qualifications, experience or ability then the country would be in a terrible state. The array of skills to do a responsible job like that should be compensated. Or you just have a dictator, probably some extremely wealthy bloke, and things would be 10x worse, and less relatable.

Totally agree, I've expensed an iPad, a lap top, a computer, a phone and ear pods, usually every two years, they're all an absolute must for loads of people in responsible roles, who do a lot of travel, meetings, work on computers, calls etc. Having decent gear is always well worth it too. Buy cheap buy twice etc.

Raynor's got a much more important job than me, does a hell of a lot more travel than me, and has a lot more confidential calls and briefings than me, so that is a 100% worth it as an expense I think. If she has incidental personal use, then who gives a toss, it's not like she's going to carry around two sets of everything.
