The boro song that is sung now

To be fair to RF they sing a wide variety of songs during a game, they try new songs all the time they just don’t all take off, bit like 12th man and anyone else who tries to start something new off. It’s only when the rest of the crowd jump on something (like they have with wider said) that it takes off and then appears like it’s sang too much cos it’s the main one people get behind. The others are still sang, they’re just not as noticeable.

The trouble with getting new songs started is allowing other supporters time to learn the words. The songs that often take off are ones that are based on already well known ones like "woke up this morning feeling fine". Most people already know the words and the song has just been slightly adapted to fit the football team so people catch on pretty quickly.

As much as i love the "Oh, Wilder said" song we really do need to bring back a few of the other ones such at "In 86 we nearly died" and "woke up this morning feeling fine" to compliment it.

Starting a song/chant is not easy to do especially by one person.
You risk failure/humiliation particularly if your voice goes squeaky at the wrong moment.
I think a lot of songs get started in the pubs by groups of lads who then go to the games and sing them around the concourses. Its a lot easier getting songs going at the ground if theres a group of you doing it rather than trying to do it by yourself.

Heres an idea. Red faction adapt the frog chorus song.. its quirky and kids will love it and it could be our next boro anthem if words are tweaked....
Win or lose, sink or swim
One thing is certain we'll never give in
Side by side, hand in hand
We all stand together

Play the game, fight the fight
But what's the point on a beautiful night?
Arm in arm, hand in hand
We all stand together....can see the crowd swaying to it now 😆

In 86 we nearly died from Ayresome park to the Riverside.Europe twice and we won the cup ,the mighty Boro are going up .
For me that’s Grant Leadbitter’s song. Absolutely love it, synonymous with that Karanka team. Will never forget the footage of the lads singing it on the roof of the Dickens after Brighton!

Chris Wilder said,

He f*****g loves paddy mcnair,

Ohhh words can’t describe,

Isaiah running down the right hand side,

Crooks hair is fine,

Scores belters all the time,

That’s why we sing this song,

For the boro all night long,
The only problem with this song is the chant / tune bit after the words, it's crap stops the flow of the song completely in my view

The song from 70's
we hate Nottingham Forest
we hate sunderland too, and Leicester , ( change leicester to chelsea)
we hate man united
But the boro we love you

and repeat

you could of course change some of the clubs e.g. Derby county not forest to suit.

I remember sometimes 'Boro' was changed to 'Newcastle' on the last line and followed by:
"do we sh1t, do we sh1te, we support the red and white, B-O-R-O, Boro"

Odd.

I loved the Karanka song to La Bamba.

How about resurrecting it with:
Sol, Sol Bamba
Sol, Sol Bamba
Martin, Martin Payero,
Anfernee Dijksteel, Dael Fry,
Tavernier and Marc Bola
Sol Sol Bamba
Sol Sol Bamba
It perfectly hits the right rhythm and gets 4 more players in songs.

Howson song is good, so is Jones' and Sporar'.
I like the Matty Crooks one too.
Lumley has a cool one, if slightly flattering.
Josh Coburn he's one of our own.
Ginger Juninho
Si Senor Payero
Super Sol Bamba
Wilder, McNair, Jones, Crooks in the Enola Gay favourite.
That's 10 different players already.

How anybody can't get the Enola Gay melody is beyond me, similarly Jones' being Abba's Voulez Vous.
