The Bluebell At Acklam

I pop in now and again when I'm up in Boro as my parents live round the corner. It's ok to watch the match. Standard beers/lagers. Not had the food but always looks and smells like standard microwavable chain pub grub.

I'd say it's definitely better than the other pubs in the area. I haven't been in the coronation in a lonnngggg time, and the cooper is typical Sam Smith's - you'll definitely get a few stares from the locals and beer is likely to give you the trumps.

How can you say it's better than the Coronation if you haven't been in for so long?

The band that plays outside The Coronation during the Teesside 10K run is a great sight on the way back into the park(y)
Sweating like a ..[Boris]...after almost 10K an all the boozy lads stood outside, smokin tabs, shouting "gerrinmayte - not far!":giggle::p

I was in the blue bell at christmas. It was OK, typical pub chain food, cheapish. I grew up in the Cooper, I loved it in there! I never really took to the coronation.

Blimey. The Master Cooper. That brings back some memories. It was the local haunt for Acklam 6th formers. Very young crowd back then. The Linthorpe was the best pub in the late 70s. I don't think I ever went in the Coronation or the Bluebell. Or the Cambridge which was very near where I grew up.

Is the cooper the white one near the long road for what was st Mary's? Did real ale etc none of the popular beers?

If it is we used to go there on a lunchtime when we were at day release college as a 17 year old.
