I doubt it because I think he will be sat in the dugout
 
Hopefully the Aussies will do what they always do by trying to humiliate England by getting fixated on a huge obscene score like 4 or 500 and then run out of time or weather.

You have to go into the opening test of an ashes with the best 5 bowlers. You can't be thinking of 'saving them' when you could be 1 or 2 nil down.

Definitely, with it being 4 days later and on a night (might suit them two more).

They've effectively given up on the first test (or greatly reduced our chances), before a ball is bowled, looking to go into Thursday night at full pelt. The fact we played leach, bowled root and barely used Stokes again looks to me like more saving the seamers for the second test.

If we're 1-1 after the next test, and have some momentum it might be a smart move, especially as the next tests have more of a break. If we go 2-0 down then everyone will be rightly annoyed.

If we had burned out Anderson and Broad in the first test, we still might not have won, and they might have suffered in the second test, decreasing the chances of that significantly.

The problem is, if they skittle us tonight, then their bowlers will have a 5/6 day rest too.

There won't enough rain, not unless we get a washout day, which won't happen.

Our best hope (other than winning), is that they do put a big score up, so their bowlers get less rest before the next test. Means nothing if we only get 100-150 in each innings though. They'll be fresh as a daisy, with limited time bowling and limited time in the field.

I agree, problem is we might have taken too many wickets, if they were 4 down they might bat themselves as well as us out of the game.
Wouldn't surprise me if we take 3 quick wickets and they bowl us out long before the weather comes to our rescue
 
Weather forecast is now good for the next 2 days. Possibly some rain Sunday but that’s not likely to help.

Not staying up to watch tonight, will check the score when I wake up tomorrow.
