That there London noticeably quieter this morning

I have quite a long commute from North East London / Essex border all the way down to South West London.

I have to get three different trains and go through both Bank and Waterloo.

Way, way fewer people than normal today. Not a single person having to stand on the Tube and Waterloo was the quietest I've seen it since lockdown.

Presumably a mixture of people finishing early for Christmas and people working from home?

Weird isn't it? It was busier than normal on Monday. I think Omicron is starting to take effect
Yeah, I thought that as well (re: Monday). My boss drives in and he said it was quieter on the roads as well.

I know that one journey on a specific route probably doesn't tell the whole story, but it was just so noticeable.

Must admit, I haven't noticed much difference at the moment in West London but my office is noticeably quieter. not sure how much of this is Christmas and how much Covid.

I thought it was busy on Monday morning but in the evening it was much quieter than usual. I felt maybe people had gone into work to tie up some loose ends before WFH until the new year. I was in Knightsbridge at the back end of last week and it was packed, the sort of packed where you know it doesn’t really feel right given the current situation etc.

I work just off Old Street but have decided to WFH until after Christmas so won’t see much of central for a while, but TBH it’s the people without masks that really wind me up. The place is full of them.

I still blame the authorities for not going hard on the masks from the start of this. When you think we were in full lockdown from late March and they didn't implement the compulsory masks until mid June, it's easy to see that the culture of not wearing them exists.

I agree.

The government is 100% to blame for this. The leader of the house excusing his lot from not wearing masks, the PM actually making jokes and trying to demonise mask wearing. When it's an airborne virus.

They have death on their hands.

Couldn’t agree more TBH. We have a government that never really believed in the measures they were advised to take, preferring instead to pander to a handful of newspaper owners and fringe groups. I believe that in ten years we’ll look back at how this government behaved and it’ll be astounding, what they did and how they were so brazen about it. And we have a poisonous press that has essentially enabled them.

Just get your mask on and button it for a bit, FFS.

Either that or you've slept in?
