That On The Beach advert

Also find the rules are very rarely enforced anyways , always see people in sports tops and the like and usually some rowdy "lads lads lads" groups or hen parties.

When we did the Newcastle one we would usually book the plus, it was a little more but almost always empty and better food, better service and more collectible seats.

Looks like it's being refurbed tho and now the regular lounge that used to cost £25 is £40, when the plus used to cost 40. I can't see that coming down when the new lounge opens so it's a fairly rapid price increase

There’s two types of lounges in airports.
Pay on the door, where you can pay the price of a few drinks to have a a few drinks and a bite to eat.

Or the airline specific lounges which are require loyalty status or travel in a premium cabin as an entry requirement.

Paddy will be putting people in the former rather than the latter.
Ah right I wondered I’ve walked past many but never really ventured inside.

You’re not missing much!
Think of it as the airport version of all inclusive vs self catering.

I do like the way they sometimes market them as “VIP” as if you’d could possibly bump into glitterati like Posh and Becks in there necking Heineken and cheap Prosecco to get their fifty quids worth.

Depends really as there's multiple tiers even in the "reserved" lounges.

For example in T5 at LHR, there's the Concorde Room which is only available to those in 1st class or Gold tier BA members. Then there's the Club Lounge which is Business Class and Silver Tier.

Whilst someone like Posh & Becks wouldn't be in the Concorde room (there's a actual VIP bit of the airport for royalty and the like) you do bump into celebrities in the Concorde Room. I've seen Rick Stein, Vernon Kay and Gary Kemp in there previously from memory. To be honest there's not much difference between the two, other than the Concorde room has a dedicated security and direct entrance from the check in desks, and also has a better wine selection too.

I’ve flown business class to New Zealand a few times and their lounges are magnificent, especially at the down under end. Same with Qantas to Oz.

The LHR Galleries Club lounges are probably not much better than what you get in the paid lounges at outstations now. In fact I dare say some of the Aspires etc are a bit better. More chance of actually getting a seat too!

I looked once out of interest at the entry cost of the Windsor Suite at LHR, I’m sure it was £2.5k per person 😂

Yeah a lot of them are pretty shabby and run down to be honest, much like a lot of other BA things (planes, website) these days.

Looks like it's £3k now although that's split between 3 of you, and doesnt include VAT.
