Text from NHS Tracing

Anyone had a notification from the app about possible exposure? When I open the notification there is nothing, plus nothing on the app telling me to isolate
That's not from the app. It's from Google or Apple checking the app's functionality.

Can you elaborate Rob?
I will try and find it again - my brother sent me it from Hong Kong many months ago and I posted it on this site. Just to show how the technology worked over there.
We didn't need to reinvent anything Far East countries had technology installed early on, particulaly South Korea where people were told hot spots and their phone showed them where they should avoid. It all worked extremely well. That was around 6 months ago.

The confusion around all this and the app and test and trace is another reason why no one should be supporting the return to watch football, it's not a priority at this moment in time, you are only ever as safe as the next person keeps you or an effective system and at the moment I have little faith in either.

Hi Dood, she has the app but the countdown wasn't triggered, I think because it came from Test and Trace and wasn't generated by the scanning part of the app. They did call her back and tell her not to delete the original text. I think that's incase she does get pulled over, she can show them the text to clarify it was sent to her by mistake. It is only until the 14th so she has said she is going to be careful and not go anywhere that could be a higher risk.
Cheers for that hewie, I was curious as to whether that original text would trigger the app on the same number.
As I've said, I entered my symptoms via the app and booked the test via it too. Once my test came back negative the app registered it automatically. As I only got a text and email result I was curious as to how the app knew the result if I didn't enter it.
From your response it appears as though that sort of stuff is done "in-app" and that the app doesn't have access to read your text messages.

This type of thing will always happen when idiots are going out and giving out fake names and numbers.

This is how you can verify you are actually being contacted by the government’s Test and Trace service

"..... people will be able to know if they are genuinely being called by Test and Trace as “it will be very obvious in the conversation that you have with them that they are genuine.” "

What the **** - relying on whether a person thinks a conversation they were not expecting to receive is "believable" or not

Have just read this today on BBC..
"The only notifications that matter appear in the app itself, telling you to go into isolation and starting a countdown clock, or warning that a location where you have checked in has been designated a virus hotspot."

Was notified via the app yesterday that I had been in proximity to someone who tested positive. I had expected this as a barman at a local bar had tested positive the day before. So it does appear to work. I have said all along the problem is more about people than the system. we are just getting more like the americans, overweight and stupid.

Havimg checked into a venue with the NHS App there is no way to check out again. Therefore for example I have a coffee at Costa at 9 am and someone infected goes in there at 2 pm. Presumably I could get a text as it doesn’t know I’ve long since departed the premises?

Did that notification then tell you to isolate for 14 days?

that's a very good point, how does that work I wonder?

It told me to isolate for a further 10 days as that was 14 days after going to the pub. Therefore seems to work fine Sorry if that is not everybody elses experience with the app but it is mine.
