Testing & this government

Apparently "Call Me Dave" Cameron helped out in his local foodbank during lockdown.

If I had been forced to go to a foodbank to feed my family from handouts I would have very likely chinned the two faced architect of "Austerity", how very dare he? Even through the thatcher years we did not have to rely on handouts to stop our children from starving.

Tories, never again.

And then we have the Lord of the Undead, Jacob Rees-Mogg telling us poor peasants to stop "carping" about the lack of tests. Yet every child attending Eton was tested before they started back.

Tories, never again.

The Iain Duncan Smith tells Joe Biden to but out of UK politics until he has stopped the rioting in the USA. FFS, I cannot even bring myself to get angry at IDS he is a hateful bigot it is what he is. I am angry at the fools who voted for him

Tories.

UKLL it is only a matter of a short amount of time before lots of basic services end up being effected and there will be lots of folks in your position where they are frightened to isolate and risk their livelihood.

My thoughts to a "T" ......bstrd Tories

The Tory government set the targets for testing. The Tory government gave themselves a target of 100,000 tests per day every day by the end of April. The Tory government said we would have a world beating system. The Tory government spent the money and appointed the people to deliver it. They don't have a leg to stand on.

They get to mark their own homework and they're still falling dreadfully short, while on the ground its worrying at best, chaotic as standard, and shambolic at worst.

Dido harding has just said some astonishing things. She says that capacity is at 200,00 and some thousand and demand is multiples of that. Her best estimate is 3 or 4 times the capacity. She then goes on to say that 27% of people surveyed coming out of test centers reported no symptoms. That still means that our capacity is currently half what it needs to be.

Utterly shocking.

Taken down also SM, seems tories are worried about their image hahhaaahahaaa
Video just worked in that article for me.

UPDATED: Just cleared the cache to see whether the video disappeared. It is still there for me after clearing the cache.

Small point of detail
They set a target of 100000 ‘people’ tested a day by a set date
Failed
So adjusted it to 100000 tests by the date and claimed success
Problem was they tested loads of people on the last day for the sake of it (the contractors who build the sites for instance) and sent out 20000 to peoples homes in order to lie to us.

I really think that the government needs to speak up and start explaining their actions in relation to the data. The initial government reaction relating to the relatively unknown virus was arguably admirable (given the data we were presented).

The media also needs to stop the misleading headlines which portray little but fear.

The accuracy of said testing should be openly discussed and also the data to support a government-predicted second wave. The NY Times recently published an article relating to the PCR tests and their accuracy. This has been discussed at length in depth recently.

I am getting more and more concerned in relation to children/education, jobs, depression, NHS late diagnoses, depression and ultimately the irreversible damage done to out economy. I think ultimately, that once the government (or people in general) commit to an action and it affects others, it can be very difficult to change that path and admit that, perhaps, you they were wrong.

I have no shame in admitting that I believe the pandemic is over. The government appear hell-bent on continuing this trend of fear.

I really hope for their sake, our sake, and the generations to comes-sake, that they are making the right decisions based on genuine data...

I like your choice of language ‘I believe the pandemic is over’. Commendable and much better than those ‘certain’r either way.
Up to last weekend I was fearing the worst and a horrid winter.
I’ve since been sent some videos by medical friends which do give room for optimism.
I’m hopeful and, I think, we will know in a few weeks or so.
Deaths will rise (Covid/flu) its all about the significance of the rise v 5 year average.

Yep. She also said she was just handed the job and hadn't gone through an interview process etc. I actually appreciate that it was a time of crisis and you sometimes just need people to get to work and to put things in action, but it doesn't look great that Hancock just got out his big rolladex of Jockey Club chums.
