Test and trace in tatters

Are there any other systems of a similar ilk that better it? If not, then that makes it a world beater by default!

Hancock said it'll all be sorted in two weeks. Contractual problems, whatever that means.

They should’ve used NHS Labs as they were told at the start of this rather than private; they could’ve quickly sorted this but again ideology trumps any possible sense of reality. I’ve got 45 students waiting for a test one who’s been offered one 200 miles away it’s a complete and utter joke.

Understand that tests are released twice daily & if you try & book shortly after 6pm you have a better chance of getting one for the following day.

I don't believe the NHS have the capacity to deal with the numbers of test required on a daily basis. Wasn't this one of the many reasons given why they didn't implement the test and trace system earlier. There was specialist equipment shortages. No idea if that is still the situation now.

Interestingly, the government has been claiming since late August that the national testing system has capacity for around 250k tests per day (and 350k per day if you count antibody testing), yet the system appears to be collapsing on a demand of around 175-190k per day.

I have read that the Director for Testing has stated they have the capacity for testing, but the pinch point is in the processing of these test in certain areas due to increased demand. New, faster equipment for processing due online.
