No they haven’t and they possibly won’t announce anything for Hartlepool. I think they plan a gigafactory in the UK but no ideas where yet. The OP was basically lying to wind people up
 
Hartlepool was was allegedly identified in Tesla's top 2 sites for their battery factory but chose Germany.

They have had lots of difficulty with environmentalists blocking the development and on a couple of occasions I've tweeted Elon Musk and Tesla to come to Teesside instead.

If it does come off I'm taking full responsibility as an influencer for this happening and would like to be awarded the freedom of Teesside.

It's not news though. That's the point. You're right about him possibly having issues. If so then he needs to step away from deliberately winning people up and he needs to stop lying
