Tense atmosphere

The crowd aren't out to achieve anything, if they're not happy then show it. It didn't do the team any harm and may have given them the kick up the @rse that improved them
It does do them harm though. They naturally aren't the most confident bunch of players, Carrick works very hard on that.

The few times when people moaned the team responded by going direct and gave the ball away.

The manager who is infinitely more knowledgeable than you is rightly calling you out and that's your rational. Absolute rubbish, it doesn't help anyone but the sad whingers who are only happy when it rains.

We also played well in the first half, we kept the ball and ground them down which contributed to the second half performance.

Think I'll move from the North Stand to the West Stand next season just to avoid all the criticism. You'd think every single fan in the North Stand was moaning and groaning judging by the expert crowd behaviour analysis on here.
Not really, there were people in the west doing it as well who I told to STFU. Funnily enough they must have thought I meant for the rest of the game as they didn't make a peep in support of the team when we went 2 up.

I didn't hear any of you lads getting behind the team. If you think the crowd should be cheering then so should you, it was quiet because it was a poor first half.

It's nothing to do with it being quiet. It's getting on the players backs when they've done nothing wrong. It wasn't just passive in the first half it was negative for no reason. It wasn't a poor half at all it was just a half where we had to be patient against a team in great form after we've had to make several forced changes.

Problem we have with some of our fans, if we are not on the front foot, and we are just passing it around at the back, some brainless supporters get on their backs, it's how we and many clubs play the game now, it's a ploy to force the opposition out, and play through them.
Cardiff were very organized in the first half, it was always going to change if we scored, after our goal it forced Cardiff out, and we then started pinging the ball about and creating spaces.
Teams will set up like Cardiff, and its upto the players and the supporters to trust the system, not pump it long when fans are anxious.

Cardiff were in the top 4 on a run of 4 straight victories and had beaten Sunderland in their last trip to NE a couple of weeks ago. It was always a potentially tough game and it was never going to be easy. The unrest and moans early on was not only unnecessary it was frustrating to hear and credit to the lads particularly second half for winning despite it.

It's not just been effective, it's been the best to watch in years.

A lot of fans just don't really understand the tactics unfortunately. Wonder if Carrick should do an educational video to go out with ST renewals 😀

Exactly and it isn't like we've only had a couple of games under Carrick, it's getting close to a year since he took over so we actually have evidence that this works.

Playing out from the back draws players out from the opposition and opens up space higher up the pitch, there's a purpose behind it. It's not like we are just fannying about for no reason.

What job do you do? Let me know then next time you're doing your job as best you can, but not making the progress I want to see, so I can come along and berate you for it...
Yep nobody likes people slagging them off in public when they are doing their best at their job, especially when those people don't now as much as you do about said job, or what you are trying to achieve with your actions at that particular time. If only they'd wait a bit longer they would be able to see, but no, it's not happening quick enough or good enough...
Strange that, they did better at their job after the crowd had a go at them.

Oh, and Carrick made sure Engel saw more of the ball too, it's why we scored first and won the match.

If you play passing football and the passes go astray and the play breaks down you will always get the moaning and groaning, its normal.

I would imagine after our early current form confidence is fragile (as shown on this board) The recent results will have calmed the waters and like the team the supporters will grow in confidence and get behind them a bit more.

I've read some posters on here that flapped and were having anxiety attacks about everything. Now !, they are the best team in the world again.

That's Football and that's why we love it, it can make you despair and then lift you up. to cloud 9. The trick is getting a balance (very hard to do)

I felt we need a partizan approach from the support. It is beginning happen with some on here (y) .

I cant wait to get back, this separation is killing me UTB 🚀

I found the ironic cheers in the first half when Engel got the ball particularly annoying. I thought it was quite obvious what we were trying to do in attempting to drag Cardiff over to our right hand side before quickly switching play to overload them on our left like we did last season. They weren't falling into the trap though so we changed it up in the second half.

We look a completely different team to the first few weeks of the season though, and long may it continue. I was particularly impressed with Sam Greenwood last night, especially second half. He looks the best fit to the 10 role in my eyes cos he is the closest player we have to Akpom in that he was to get on the ball and is technically good enough to paly as a proper link man between midfield, the wide men and the striker. He wants the ball on the half turn and wants to be direct when he gets it.
