Teesside University in collaboration with Middlesbrough and Stockton Local History Month are bringing to people’s homes a virtual programme of original comic art and illustrations created by Foundation Level, Year 1, Year 2, graduating students and tutors from the BA (Hons) Comics and Graphic Novels Programme. The show was going to be hosted in the real world by Pineapple Black Gallery until the lockdown forced a change of plans. As such, Local History Month is promoting an online exhibition that has been created to celebrate the accomplishments of the university’s hard-working students and staff. Course Leader Julian Lawrence says: “The students and staff were all disappointed when we realised the art show could not go on as planned. However, Local History organisers offered to promote a virtual exhibition so we jumped at that chance.” The online exhibition will went live today with an online launch planned for Friday May 22 at 6 pm.
