If you must use it, use their mobile app. Its about 9000% better. Doesn't improve the writing quality but in terms of ads and stuff its a lot better than the site.

Even worse is the stock photo of Teesside Crown Court, which they use when they've failed to secure any wrongun snaps.

I gave up on it years ago. When you look back on the days when the Gazette was a local institution it's a shame to see what it's turned into. It's definitely not progress.

Your assumption would be correct - I go on occasionally to see what's happening at home, but it's almost pointless now - their "reporting" seems to go no further than quoting what Karen from Stockton said on social media

It’s a national service provider, with various entry-level local journalists posting local content tailored to Teesside and other regions. It’s not just TeessideLive that’s pointless, it’s the whole of Reach plc.

It could easily be hugely improved however if it managed to find a way to fund itself without resorting to the most hideously designed user interface on the entire internet (a big place!) and most obnoxious advertising strategy.
