Teesside Labour MPs urge against Tier 2

Teesside's Labour MPs say covid-19 rates are "simply too high" to relax Tier 3 local lockdown.

The intervention comes after local Tory MPs met with Health Secretary Matt Hancock to press for a move down to Tier 2 next week - which would see local lockdown restrictions eased.

But Labour representatives say that while Teesside is making progress, the time isn't right for a loosening of restrictions - and criticising the Tories' 'reckless' call for a move to Tier 2.

They're probably right but it doesn't really matter. People are going to do what they like over Xmas and if pubs aren't open then people will just drink inside at friends houses.

Infections will be sky high in January/February & a full lock down beckons by March at the latest.

As harsh as it is, pubs will be absolutely packed at this time of year. Seems the right call especially as the vulnerable are already starting to be vaccinated

Shocking if they will not allow this to happen.

The area needs to re open, and I need my christmas day pint!

Pubs can be controlled, shops and retail cant.
Its retail what is causing the spikes in cases.
In York at the weekend the streets were packed out, pubs were socially distanced and rules being followed.
