Teesside Airport Railway Station

Closed a couple of years ago - when I’ve been on the Saltburn train it’s going to rot
Will be part of a big transport hub for Teesworks in the future, buses, car park and the railway station all together behind the old steel house. Workers will then be bussed around site.

wouldn't providing regular shuttle buses from all local towns be a better use of the money? Great building station but need the trains to the service it. Buses could be flexed around flight times

Works well for Leeds Bradford airport. Get the shuttle bus from Leeds train station quite often

This, and they wouldn't need many. I flew out of there in the summer, after our 9.45 flight there wasn't another until after 4 in the afternoon.

People are looking at this through the wrong lens. The objective has never been to provide Teesside with a viable airport with transport links to the wider community; it has always been an opportunity to channel public funds to a chosen few. Follow the money!
This is spot on

This is only going to viable (maybe) if they build a new town in between the station and the A66. Which they won't. As above a decent shuttle bus service would be better.

The airport as it is won't be open by the end of the decade unless they add significantly more flights.

Announcing these single initiatives does nothing for its viability. It is just jobs for the Mayor's friends and several bits of PR over time.

Let's be honest, Houchen has done a great job for Houchen, same as Preston did in Boro. Go in, spend a whole load of other people's money to help you and your friends then bail out and leave others to clean up the mess.
