Was with Virgin now being moved to O2. 02 sent me a new sim which is being activated today so I can keep the same number.
I've swapped phones before and been able to send photos ,numbers, what's app groups etc to the new phones but how can I get stuff stored on my old sim onto my new one ?

Are you changing your sim or your phone ?

Once your number has been ported, stick the old sim in the new phone. (It will no longer work for calls etc. However, you should be able to copy or import whatever is on your old sim that you want to keep in to your new phone memory. Switch off, take old sim out, stick your new sim in the new phone, and copy/export the contacts etc back to the new sim.

Edit: If you're not changing phone, even easier. Just copy/import sim contacts etc to phone memory before you switch off and put new sim in.

P.S - Hopefully you'll have like for like sim capacity. I had this problem recently where I was sent a sim by the new network which had a 150 contact capacity, but I'd previously had 250. Was a bit annoying as I had about 240 contacts on my old sim, so couldn't copy them all across.

It might be an idea not to store stuff on your sim but just put it in the cloud, like gmail or whatever. No need to worry next time.

in the contacts app (on an android) you can choose in the options which account to store your contacts. Choose anything but device only.
On Apple phones import them then make sure your icloud is syncing contacts in settings

then delete them off your SIM
