Forss back on the bench!

Is he actually fit or are we just getting him in and around the group 😅

😅😅😅

“It’s been a long time for him (Forss),” said Carrick, whose side head to Watford on Saturday for their final game before the international break. “I’ll be honest, and Marcus knows this, he’s not really ready to play just yet

“We wanted him back in and around the group but he needs minutes.”

Carrick is very big on the "togetherness" of squad - It's been mentioned in a few interviews (one of them was Smith last season while he was out injured).

It's the same for Harley Hunt - I think it's very unlikely he was ever going to get subbed on - switching Ayling to CB and bringing Dijksteel on would have been the move if we needed a CB...
... but being "with the team" is beneficial to the player. Carrick's also big on involving the U21s in training, there's regularly 5-6 U21 players training with the first team.

Doak/Jones will be our #1/#2 in the RW position - Conway could potentially be our #2 striker - Forss's route back into the team might be difficult, and it would be easy, after being out for so long, for that to knock a players confidence and then knock his performances when he does get a chance from the bench.

Having Forss travel and sit on the bench for an away game sends the very clear message of "you are still a big part of this team and we want you to play".
